This scenic park is located on beautiful Smith Lake which features over 500 miles of shoreline for camping and 21,000 acres of clear water for sport fishing, skiing, and boating.

This back-to-nature park offers 200-plus tent and RV camp sites, a swimming pool and spiral water slide (in season), lake swimming, picnic area, and shelters. Rustic cabins* are available near the lake. Other facilities include carpet golf course, a free public boat launch, and playgrounds. The Cullman County Parks & Recreation Department host a number of special events & festivals at the park throughout the year including a spectacular 4th of July fireworks show and the annual Indian Festival, sponsored by the Echota Cherokee Tribe.

Take I-65 Exit #304, go south on County Road 437 toward Jasper for about 5 miles. Turn right onto County Road 813. Go about 2 miles, turn left on County Road 385 and follow the signs to Smith Lake Park.

 

*Cabins are not furnished with bed linens or toiletries. Some cabins are furnished with microwave ovens and some with conventional ovens. Call 256-739-2916 or write to Smithlakepark@co.cullman.al.usfor more information and reservations. Off season rates (Nov-Feb) are available.

Activities and Events at Smith Lake Park


The spiral waterslide is a very popular draw
for the younger generation.


Antique car shows are part of many annual events at the park.


The annual Cullman County Indian Festival held at
Smith Lake Park is sponsored by the Echota
Cherokee Tribe and is rapidly becoming one of the
best Native American festivals in the nation.


The large swimming pool at Smith Lake Park is a
big hit on hot summer days.


A young park visitor makes a big splash at the
bottom of the park's spiral waterslide.


The annual 4th of July Festival features local musicians,
craft and food vendors and a huge fireworks show.
